Disability Equality Training

Aim

To build knowledge of disability equality issues. Attendees will gain an insight into the barriers that exist and that positive action can help reduce the effects of discrimination.

Audience

Any. This course benefits every organisation in understanding disability issues.

Objectives

By the end of the workshop, delegates will be able to:

• Build confidence in working with disabled people.
• Understand language and terminology.
• Media portrayal of disabled people.
• Social & Medical Models of disability.
• Legislation. The DDA & Disability Equality Duty.
• Images and Stereotyping.
• Media and presentation
• Improving Access and Action planning

Numbers

A one day workshop for a maximum of 16 participants.

Certificates

A certificate of course completion will be issued for use.

Alternative arrangements

A half day programme can be provided. Course elements would be shortened accordingly.
